I got one for my brother. >D THE BRADY CHEERLEADER THAT HE IS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
(And if he doesn't wear it, I bought one for myself and my dad so we can wear it for him! hahahahahahahaha)
*points and laughs at her little bro*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That's for rubbing it my face during the Pats 16-0 win. :PPPPPPPPPPPPPP!
I know. I'm a very bitter woman.
This is not Canucks-related, but GM Place related...
I AM GOING TO THE SPICE GIRLS CONCERT ON DEC 2ND AT GM PLACE.
BOOYAH.
I was planning to make a huge post about the Canucks jersey launch, but I got lazy, got a bit busy with training for the new job, back to school stuff, and saying good bye to summer in general, so I mostly forgot to do it.
I'll talk about the general "unveiling experience" later (hopefully) with photos to accompany them... For now, I'll talk about the actual logo.
My initial reaction was that of excitement. The fans at GM Place were treated to a short video explaining the Vancouver Canucks jersey history, and near the end of the video, you see "flashes" of the new jersey. So when Markus Naslund came out on the ice donning the new sweaters, I was excited and totally pleased with it.
When the excitement ran out, and I was able to actually see the jerseys and ponder over it, I thought it'd take a while to get used to the "Vancouver" wordmark over the orca. I didn't know whether I like it or hate it yet, but once I got home and got to see more photos of the jersey (on Willie Mitchell...), it slowly grew on me.
Next thing I know, I was already planning to save my 3rd paycheck to purchase the new jersey (White/Away with possibly Naslund or Salo, please ;D). The "Vancouver" wordmark sure grew on me really fast. I blame it on Willie.
In all seriousness, what I really LOVE about our new jerseys are the colors. I love, love, love vintage. I am also sort of glad we got to keep the orca.
As for the cons, I've been telling anyone who listens that I hate how the "Vancouver" wordmark will make the jerseys of the Captain and Alternates look really cluttered. The "C" and "A" up there will just really make it so crowded and... really wordy.
Yeah.. That's my only real criticism for now. The jerseys looks so good on the boys, maybe that's why I got used to them so quickly.
Chloe said she's coming to Vancouver for a week this August. Although I am happy and excited that she is coming, I told her to make plans to come here during Winter next time... aka HOCKEY SEASON! Preferably when the Oilers are in town so we can kill each other while cheering for our respective teams. :)
In any case, she first suggested that she'll wear her Oilers t-shirt, to make up for the lack of hockey I guess, but then tried to retract her suggestion as she's afraid she might get mauled by rabid Canucks fans downtown.
:D I told her I'd defend her unless she's wearing a Roloson t-shirt, then I'd feed her to the wolves. NYAHAHAHA!
Going to a bar to watch the PPV game tonight with 2 girl friends from high school. OH YEAH! I didn't even know one of them follows the Canucks, I just invited her since she wanted to go watch a movie with me tonight, but apparently she knows a bit about them.. at least enough to know where they stand in the conference. :D
Also planning to go to Authentix to buy my Canucks t-shirt~ I'm hoping there's one of either Salo or Mitchell, but I doubt they'd be selling their t-shirts. I might have to get Naslund or Ohlund. Ah well. :B
I hope they score 9384923 goals tonight. I hope I did not just jinx them.
Interesting read which I found linked on jordi's blog which basically distinguishes a puckbunny from hockey fans which happens to be girls.
Well, I know I'm a fangirl and not a puckbunny, but somehow in the words "fan" + "girl" usually don't mix together in the context of sports fandom.
But well, I'm a Canucks fan. I liked watching the Canucks play before I even thought that Brendan Morrison was good-looking, or Taylor Pyatt was traded to our team. I've always been fascinated with the Mighty Ducks 1, 2, 3 movies while growing up since that's the closest I got to watching "hockey" as it was non-existent in the Philippines. I love the speed players display while skating, how they handle and maneuver the puck, the way goalies seem to make each save look easy and most importantly the emotion running high in the game.
For me, I don't think you can find any sport other than hockey that displays the same amount of speed, skill and intensity in every game and this is why I love it.
As for the attractive hockey players? So? If male fans are allowed to ogle female athletes and cheerleaders and still love the sport itself, why can't we?
Well anyway.
P.S. Thank you Anaheim Ducks. YOU'RE STILL MIGHTY IN MY BOOK!
