"DENIED! YOU STINK MORE THAN RYAN GETZLAF!"
:P If you guys didn't know, that is actually QUATCHI, the hockey-playing Sasquatch, one of the mascots for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
I swear, I went to Zellers to purchase my Secret Santa present, and I saw it.. and I heard someone explaining to someone that it's a "hockey-playing Sasquatch" and I thought "OMG! WILLIE!!! I FOUND YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
So I bought it.
And he was expensive.

I obviously want to go to Taylor Pyatt's on Tuesday... but...
I HAVE A FREAKING MIDTERM AT 5:00 PM THAT NIGHT... AND I NEED TO STUDY, BUT KNOWING ME I WILL SKIP MY FIRST CLASS AND LINE UP ANYWAY. BUT STILL THIS IS SO UNFAIR.
In other news, I most definitely will go to one of the sessions on Saturday. :D Save on Foods in Surrey is just a couple of minutes away. ;D
X(((((
How old was [Taylor Pyatt] when he started skating?
Henrik Sedin: 15 (laughs) - 7
- King of the Rink: Taylor Pyatt Edition
HAHAHAHAHAHA.
I can literally see Henrik going "15... HAHA LOL 15!! JUST KIDDING!"
Henrik doesn't love Pyatt anymore, he just makes fun of him now. Probably going, "HAHA YOU'RE NOT IN MY LINE ANYMORE! WE'RE NOT BEST FRIENDS ANYMORE NYAH NYAH"
XD!!
In other news, Mike Modano cannot seem to buy a point. :P
"We're going to run-and-gun hockey now." - Alain Vigneault (source)
Sometimes, the best defense is offense. As long as they don't completely abandon the concept of team defense, I would definitely love to see a more offensive approach to the team this year.
Best quote
Taylor Pyatt gets whacked early. It gives him instant edge. He plays with fire, gets mean, decides to use his body, scores two goals and has his best game of the year. "We're going to find a way to get one guy on the other team to smack him off the bat every game and we'll be all right," head coach Alain Vigneault said.
Best story
Lukas Krajicek comes up lame before the game. He hurts his ankle. We'll let him explain it. "It's funny, I was just walking on the sidewalk and one of the sewers, the metal thing, was wet," Krajicek said of his Thursday night fall. "I stepped down and injured my ankle, same one as before."
HAHA. Oh, Nuckies. :)
AV said the same thing about Pyatt last year, against the San Jose. Joe Thornton crushed Pyatt in the first period and in the 2nd period, he scored a goal and used an awesome power move where he assisted on Daniel Sedin's goal.
You know who Taylor Pyatt sort of reminds me of? KENNY WU FROM THE MIGHTY DUCKS!!! LOL
Ken Wu: Yo, Russ, you gotta teach me how to talk some trash.
Russ: It can't be taught, Kenny-man. I mean, it's gotta be the first thing that comes to your mind. You just gotta go for it. Try it.
Ken Wu: Hey Ref! You - ...
Russ: [covers Ken's mouth] Ah! Shh. Pick another target.
Ken Wu: [stuttering] Hey, number forty-four, you - you - you - you- you play - you don't play real good.
Bears Player: Yeah, right.
Russ: Shorter, man. Get to the point.
Ken Wu: Hey, number nine! Bite me!
[is knocked over by number nine player]
Russ: [laughs] Now we're gettin' somewhere.
XD I don't know. HAHA. He's the fatter, non-asian version of Ken Wu? He needs protection from the Bash Brothers turn into one himself! LOL!
Hey, Mikee the Yankee, the good news, you won't get searches for "Taylor Pyatt's girlfriend" anymore. The bad news is, it will be replaced with "Taylor Pyatt's wife" instead. :P
*cackles*
Anyway, Ryan Kesler, the Canucks resident nerd, gamer, wannabe Eminem, and now, gossip, mentioned in his blog that Fatty Cushion Sofa Pyatt is married.
Willie is not pleased. X(
[add] Also, Mason Raymond has been sent down to the depths of Manitoba to play with the baby Nuckies, but has now been recalled back into the snuggly arms of the Mommie and Daddie Nuckies in Vancouver. :)
Welcome back, Raisin!
I was planning to make a huge post about the Canucks jersey launch, but I got lazy, got a bit busy with training for the new job, back to school stuff, and saying good bye to summer in general, so I mostly forgot to do it.
I'll talk about the general "unveiling experience" later (hopefully) with photos to accompany them... For now, I'll talk about the actual logo.
My initial reaction was that of excitement. The fans at GM Place were treated to a short video explaining the Vancouver Canucks jersey history, and near the end of the video, you see "flashes" of the new jersey. So when Markus Naslund came out on the ice donning the new sweaters, I was excited and totally pleased with it.
When the excitement ran out, and I was able to actually see the jerseys and ponder over it, I thought it'd take a while to get used to the "Vancouver" wordmark over the orca. I didn't know whether I like it or hate it yet, but once I got home and got to see more photos of the jersey (on Willie Mitchell...), it slowly grew on me.
Next thing I know, I was already planning to save my 3rd paycheck to purchase the new jersey (White/Away with possibly Naslund or Salo, please ;D). The "Vancouver" wordmark sure grew on me really fast. I blame it on Willie.
In all seriousness, what I really LOVE about our new jerseys are the colors. I love, love, love vintage. I am also sort of glad we got to keep the orca.
As for the cons, I've been telling anyone who listens that I hate how the "Vancouver" wordmark will make the jerseys of the Captain and Alternates look really cluttered. The "C" and "A" up there will just really make it so crowded and... really wordy.
Yeah.. That's my only real criticism for now. The jerseys looks so good on the boys, maybe that's why I got used to them so quickly.
The Vancouver Canucks has officially announced that they will unveil their new jersey on August 28. You can pick up your (free) tickets at Ticketmaster.ca.
Anyway, I was so excited as soon as I saw the mini flash video before entering Canucks.com and immediately picked up my free tickets!!! Thank God I don't have work or school that day! Not only are they unveiling the jerseys, a bunch of Canucks players will be present during the jersey launch as well.
I just hope the people coming with me will prevent me from immediately snagging the new jerseys. *o*
"It doesn't matter to us who is in net," said Carbonneau. "Even if Jesus is in net, we'll try to beat him."
You can try, Carbs. You can try. Luongo shut you out last time, he can shut you out again in 2 years. :D
Other things:
- Hot new forum system at Canucks.com. Totally loving the new features which includes quick reply, quick edit, multi-quoting. However, I do not love the (still existing) size restrictions on avatars (80 x 80) which resizes everything to 80 x 80. I don't like seeing stretched out images, all pixellized, cause they're bigger than their normal size.
- Canucks need 2 more wins to clinch the division. Make it happen, please. I'd like to know whether I can buy first round tickets or not. GO FOR THE HOME ICE ADVANTAGE, NUCKIES, otherwise, your first home game would be right around the start of my final exams and I won't be able to go watch a live game. *tear*
- Sami Salo is back in the lineup tonight! :D I'm still giddy over the 4-year contract extension.
So, I'll be writing my program while watching the Canucks game and I will try to live blog? If possible? I get too distracted to live blog... :P I need to focus on the game... so I will try. I doubt I have anything nice to say, since I usually have a potty mouth when I watch hockey games. That or I have a high pitched squeal when something remotely exciting happens.
Speaking of... I've been thinking of changing the name of this blog. :o I've been making fun of the "Hockey is a violent sport" perception for a while now in my Canucks.com signature, avatars and profile photo... Maybe I should name it something related to my "Hockey is about love, not violence" slogan. But that would make it seem like a general hockey blog, which this is not (really)... XD I will think on it.
Hee! One piece of the puzzle solved! So far we know... Green-Fitz, Linden-Ohlund, Kesler-Burrows ... and now Mo-Py are road roomies!
Canucks mafia going in for the kill. Didn't know Pyatt was one of the hitmen... where's Willie? Maybe he's gone ahead to the Lupul's place to uhh... do what hitmen does?
Both are trying to look as innocent as possible after they've done their "jobs". ;) (Love how Pyatt is hiding behind the newspaper... scared that I might recognize him? :BBBBBB! I KNOW WHAT YOU DID IN EDMONTON!!!)
And okay... :P The rest of the pics... There's 2 for you in there Jordi! ;D
Good luck tonight, Nuckies!
