The Canucks have told forward Taylor Pyatt they want to re-sign him before he becomes an unrestricted free agent July 1. Pyatt's agent, Todd Christie, said Monday they are all ears.
Although only 25, Pyatt qualifies as a UFA under the seven-year clause of the new collective bargaining agreement. He played in the NHL at 19 as a member of the New York Islanders. This is his seventh full season, including credit for the lockout.
"Taylor spoke to Dave Nonis [Canuck GM] about a week and a half ago and Dave expressed an interest in re-signing him," Christie explained. "Now I'm waiting to hear back from Dave. We'll see how it goes."
Pyatt was acquired last summer from the Buffalo Sabres for a fourth-round pick. He makes $700,000 US and is enjoying a career season, however modest, with 16 goals and 28 points.
"Every time I talk to Taylor he tells me how much he loves Vancouver, so hopefully we can work something out that makes sense for both parties," Christie said. - Vancouver Sun
LOVE IT! *GLEE*!!!!!! Here's to a few (hopefully) more years of climbing in and out of Pyatt's fan bandwagon! :DDDD
